Something you probably DIDN’T see on your local news
$1000 Per Day Fine And 30 Days In Jail For Refusing The Swine Flu Vaccine In Massachusetts?
Yep, you read that right, folks! And YES, it IS now the law. Should the state government feel like it, they can choose to enforce this in any way they see fit, including invading YOUR private property.
Apparently, only one local news outlet has reported this…I believe that this video is from NECN, because that’s where R.D. Sahl works, last I heard. Take a couple of minutes to watch it, please. And then be prepared to want to go to Beacon Hill and beat those lawmakers upside the head with a motorcycle jack.
Are you outraged? You should be! What is also outrageous is that we have not seen this story reported on ANY of the local broadcast networks…not on WBZ, not on WCVB, not on WHDH, and not on WFXT. They were all too busy with what I considered to be excessive coverage of Senator Kennedy’s death, with a few breaks here and there with info about Tropical Storm Danny. But not jack about this new law. I find this to be very irresponsible journalism. Yes, Senator Kennedy’s death certainly deserved a lot of coverage. But there is still other stuff going on that we, the people, have the right to know.
I found out about it when someone casually mentioned it on a message board. The poster did not provide a link, so I had to hunt one down to see if this was indeed true.
Something you can do about this is to sign this petition, and refuse and resist any mandatory vaccines. Even if you don’t live in Massachusetts, please go and sign it. This could become a federal mandate, or passed into law in other states. It’s already happened here, it can happen anywhere.
If we all stand up for our rights and refuse this vaccine, how can they enforce this law? Are they going to throw us all in jail? I think not!
The swine flu vaccine is so new, and very little is known about it, what effect it will have on people. Sometimes, vaccines have worse effects than the diseases they are designed to prevent.
Another thing you can possibly do…if you live in Massachusetts and are looking to move, to purchase a home any time soon, don’t buy in Massachusetts. As you may know, we’re looking towards Maine or possibly New Hampshire.
Hopefully, things won’t get so bad that the state of Massachusetts feels they have to enforce this, and force people to get the shots. But isn’t it scary to know that they can do this, AT ANY TIME? THEY are the ones who get to decide if it’s an emergency or not…not US. So, theoretically, if one more MA resident drops dead from H1N1, they can freak out and force us all to get shots, or go to jail/pay a fine/etc.
I suspect that most of those who don’t cooperate will be doing the jail time, as who has $1000 a day? Most people don’t make that much money in a week, or even a month!
But don’t worry…there’s plenty of room in Massachusetts’ jails. I mean, since they like to let all of the sex offenders out early, so they can go out and re-offend. That way, there is plenty of room to house all of the otherwise law-abiding citizens whose only *crime* was to refuse to allow a potentially toxic substance to be put into their bodies.
Way to go, Massachusetts!
Finally, I leave you with this video, also from that bird flu pandemic site.
Oh, and thanks to Kat for the link to the petition site.
Seashore Trolley Museum
Mike and I went to the Seashore Trolley Museum…he’s a member and today was Members’ Day. The museum is l0cated up in Kennebunkport, Maine, about an hour and a half or so north of Boston.
The museum features a large collection of vintage trolley cars, as well as some subway trains and buses. Many of the trolley cars are running, and visitors get to take as many rides as they want, all for a single admission fare.
This museum is nice because it’s not 100% *kiddified*, as Edaville down in Carver, MA, seems to be these days. If you want to see the vintage narrow gauge railroad trains that Edaville used to have, before it turned into a kiddie park, go to the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad & Museum up in Portland. That’s where they moved most of the good stuff! If you have kids and they want to see Thomas the Tank Engine, by all means go to Edaville. Check their website for info on when the next “Day Out With Thomas” event will take place…I think they’re having it next week.
This is not to say that Seashore doesn’t have any appeal to families with kids, quite the contrary. They hold a couple of events that are geared towards kids. The first one is “Ice Cream & Sunset Trolley Ride Specials”, which are held every Wednesday and Thursday evening through August. The time is 7PM, fare is $4.00, and ice cream is included. There’s only one more week in August, so don’t miss your chance!
Another big event that Seashore has every fall is the “Pumpkin Patch Trolley”. You can read all about is right here. This is a very popular event, and many families, both local and tourists, visit and enjoy!
All of this trolley car stuff reminds me of a book that I read when I was a kid, called “The Trolley Car Family”. Some people live in mobile homes that are trailers…well, this family took an old trolley car and converted it to their home. Sadly, this book is out of print…I tried looking for it in the kids’ book section of the museum shop, and then checked Amazon when I got home. Fortunately, used copies are available, I might order one.
Anyhoo, if you’re an adult who’d rather avoid seeing a lot of kids at Seashore, don’t go on any of the Pumpkin Patch Days. Take a day off from work after Labor Day and go on a weekday when kids are in school, the museum is open daily through Columbus Day. After that it’s open just on weekends unti almost the end of October.
All aboard!

Only in Massachusetts…
…do criminals have more rights than crime victims, and other law-abiding citizens. Read this and be disgusted: Judge Nixes Tracking Device For Sex Offender
According to a story I saw on TV, this pervo feels that having a GPS bracelet interferes with his right to privacy. Sorry, but once you commit a crime, you lose some of your rights. It’s a proven fact that many, many Level 3 sex offenders will re-offend. I’ve heard stories about guys who go back to their pervo ways THE DAY THEY ARE RELEASED FROM PRISON!
What about the boy that this guy raped? He’s an adult now, but I bet he’s still in therapy, and the trauma of the rape will NEVER go away. EVER.
———-
In other local news, a guy got busted in a $100,000 CVS shoplifting ring. Look at the video and see all of the stuff that was stolen, everything from Tylenol to condoms to makeup to zyatonix diet pills! He was selling the stuff on eBay and fleas markets.
Why do I think that this guy is going to get the book thrown harder at him than do Masaachusetts sex offenders?

90 degrees and the pool is closed
Well, many of the public pools in Massachusetts are. Story here.
Sorry, but I’m not buying the excuse about the college student lifeguards. Yes, I do believe that they really do have to leave to go back to campus. But I can’t be convinced that in all of the state of Massachusetts, there are NO non-college students who are qualified for these jobs? In this economy, is there absolutely NOBODY who is willing to take a temp job for a few weeks? Yeah, right!
You and I both know damned well that it all about saving money. It ticks me off that Cruella Deval (I saw that name on WBZ’s Conversation Nation blog) and his pals on Beacon Hill keep finding new stuff to tax us on, but services still get reduced more and more. Our tax money goes to pay for these pools, and therefore, we should get to use them when the weather is hot. Why should people have to schlep all the way across the state or wherever, because the pool in their neighborhood is closed?
Cruella Deval doesn’t care. When he’s hot and wants to swim, no doubt he has a big fancy swimming pool in his own back yard. Is he actually taking a salary, I wonder? Mitt Romney didn’t when he was governor, he didn’t need the money anyway. I read someplace that the Governator of California is also not taking a salary, for the same reason. That’s good, because his state is even more messed up than ours is.
If you live in this area, you know that it’s been blisteringly hot over the past few days, with several more 90º F + days ahead. It’s so hot that you don’t even need fat burners to lose weight, all you have to do is walk outside and you’ll sweat it off!
For many people, these public pools are one of the few options for cooling off. Not everyone can afford their own pools, and even many that can have no place to put one. There are low-income folks who either don’t have air-conditioning, or are forced to limit how long it’s on, because they can’t afford the high electric bills that come with A/C. And not everyone in Massachusetts lives near a beach.
I want to see Cruella Deval and all his fatcat pals on Beacon Hill put their money where their mouths are, and do some cutting back of their own? Why do WE always have to get screwed, while they are sacrificing NOTHING?
How would like to renew your wedding vows
…on a BASEBALL FIELD?

On Saturday, August 8, you will be able to do just that! The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are holding their very first Renew Your Wedding Vows Night at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium. The ceremony will be held prior to the start of the game..game time is 7:05PM, and the Fisher Cats ask that all couples who wish to participate show up at the ballpark no later than 5:45PM.
You also need to buy tickets and sign up in order to participate. For info on how to do this, click HERE.
Since Mike and I already have tickets to the Sunday game the next day, we bought tickets to the Saturday game, so we could participate in this. This will be our 9th anniversary celebration, just a week and a half late.
I think there will also be fireworks after the game, as well.
We also booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn, which faces the ballpark. The picture above is a view from one of the ballpark-facing rooms. They have rooms that don’t face the ballpark, that offer a gorgeous scenic view of the parking lot…LOL! Of course, they charge a little more for roooms that face the ballpark, but it’s oh, so, worth it.
Since this is all about romance, we got the “Romance Package”. A room facing the ballpark, chilled champagne in said room, and breakfast the next morning. But we will be having said breakfast in the room…I wish they had room service for breakfast, but they don’t. The one time we did eat breakfast in their dining room on a Sunday morning, the place was full of screaming kids…not exactly conducive to romance. So, this time, we’ll just go downstairs, get our breakfast, and bring it back to our room on trays, so we can enjoy it in peace.
This hotel is very nice, and is surprisingly affordable for all you get. They pay great attention to detail, from the state-of-the-art “sleep number” mattresses to the digital cable on their HDTVs, to the Danze faucets in the bathrooms. At least I think that’s what brand they are.
And they do NOT nickel and dime you to death, as some other hotels in the same price range do. Internet access is always FREE, be it wireless or wired in your room, or downstairs in the Business Center. Even if you are using your latop in your room, you still can use the printers in the Business Center for remote printing. Once again, no additional charge for this.
Also free for guest use is an indoor pool, as well as a fitness center. And all rooms come equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee maker and coffee/tea stuff. The only additional charges are for meals at the hotel restaurants (unless they are included in your package), and for long distance phone calls. Local calls are free.
I can’t wait to go!
