If you want to be a pervert, move to Massachusetts
Well, that seems to be the message that our fine Commonwealth is screaming loud and clear. FOX-25 News has reported that convicted child molester and murderer Charles Jaynes has been allowed to be released temporarily from the slammer to attend his father’s funeral.
NO! DO NOT WANT! This pervert and his equally perverted buddy, Salvatore Sicari, killed 10 year old Jeffrey Curley back in 1997, and did unspeakable things to his body, before dumping it in a river up in Maine.
Although this happened 12 years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. I remember seeing the pic of Jeffrey on my TV screen during the news almost every night, an innocent little boy wearing his Little League uniform. Poor kid never had a chance for a future, he never even got to grow up enough to require the best acne treatment. Never got to date girls. Never got to go to high school and college. Never had a chance to perhaps make it in Major League Baseball.
I am sickened over the fact that this guy, one of Jeffrey’s killers, is going to be allowed out of prison for even ONE SECOND. This guy is sick, he’s a murderer and a pervert, who was also part of that NAMBLA thing (North American Man-Boy Love Association, or something like that). I don’t know if their sick website is still up, but I refuse to visit or link to it, the whole thing is too disgusting for words.
Way to go, Massachusetts, for letting this pervo out on furlough! Have you forgotten all about Willie Horton?
Mike was never this fun at MIT!
Yeah, he went there, and graduated ten years ago. Has it really been that long? I remember his commencement, when *Click & Clack, the Tappet Brothers* of Car Talk fame, were the commencement speakers. My, they were fun, not as boring as other graduation speakers I’ve endured in the past!
Anyhoo, MIT students have been known to have a great sense of humor, even though Mike is an old fuddy-duddy who never had anything to do with any of this. He was an older student, while most of the kids there are still fighting blackheads and zits and such. He was just there to get trained to get a decent job that pays well, which he did. He wasn’t a kid with rich parents who enabled him to play around in college.
The latest thing, something that Mike would have liked, is the pranksters putting cat ears and whiskers on the famous Great Dome of the main building of MIT. Have you seen this yet? Check it out HERE! It is so CUTE! I wish I’d thought of this myself!

Not accepting new patients
So say many primary care doctors in Massachusetts.
At first, you’d have a hard time believing this, as the Boston area is one of the top places for medical care in the U.S. But I can vouch for the fact that, even when you follow good health insurance leads and find a plan that suits your needs, it’s still difficult to find a primary care doc here.
For way too long, Mike had to put up with a rather incompetent PCP, because every time he tried to find a new one, he was told that they were not accepting any new patients. Until his PCP nearly killed him, he kept going to him…only because he takes a lot of meds, and someone had to prescribe them.
Mike was in Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, and he was getting sicker. No one was doing anything about it except trying to push him to have surgery for colon cancer that tests showed was not there. Nothing about the reasons he was there.
I spoke up and insisted that he be released, so I could take him to another hospital. After a lot of fighting, I got my way, and I took him to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Best decision I ever made.
At first, they sent him back to The Quack, his original PCP. But The Quack’s incompetence landed Mike back in the hospital…his nurse told him to go the MW’s ER, but we went to Lahey’s instead.
This time, Mike made it clear that he wanted to have a PCP associated with Lahey. They found him one, but the only problem is that he had no appointments open until October. This was back in June! Yes, he did make the October appointment.
Fortunately, he does get to see specialists who can prescribe his meds…the cardiologist and the endocrinologist.
I had better luck when I decided to become a Lahey patient, though. I got to see my new PCP within two weeks after I called. Maybe I just called at the exact right time, when she had an opening. Also, I wanted a female doctor, and Mike wanted a male.
I think that a big part of the doctor shortage is the high cost of malpractice insurance. If you watch the syndicated shows during the daytime, judge shows on channel 25 or channel 38, you’ll see sixty million commercials for *ambulance chaser* lawyers. People will sue over any little old thing these days. And it costs the doctors a lot of money to defend themselves, even when they’ve done nothing wrong. The shortage of OB/GYNs is especially subject to this. Many of them dropped the OB part because new parents were suing for any imperfection that their babies might have been born with.
We’re luckier than many because we both did manage to find new PCPs. I just feel bad for people who are not happy with their doctors, but can’t find new ones who will see them!
The 1st Annual Pumpkinhead Bash
One of the best things about the fall are the various microbrews that come out. And the one I look forward to the most is Shipyard’s Pumpkinhead Ale.
And now I hear that there will be a big party to celebrate this most tasty beer! It will be held at The Landing at Pine Point, in Scarborough, Maine, on Friday, October 30. You can read more about it, and buy tickets ($25 per person) HERE.
Attendees are encouraged to come in costume, and there will be prizes for the best costumes. Of course, if you are not into wearing costumes, I guess you could always wear your Pumpkinhead Ale T-shirt…you DO have one, right?
There will be music, dancing, and of course, plenty of beer! And since it is on the night before Halloween, no need to turn down any Halloween invitations for the big night itself!
Guy Fieri Road Show
…is coming to the Lowell Auditorium in Lowell, MA in November! You can read all about it HERE on their Facebook page.
If you go, leave the appetite suppressants at home. Guy is the host of three Food Network shows – “Guy’s Big Bite”, “Ultimate Recipe Showdown”, and “Diners, Drive-ins & Dives”. He first came to national attention after winning “The Next Food Network Star”.
Guy also had a gig as a celebrity spokeschef for TGI Friday’s, and developed several recipes for them. We go to Friday’s often, and the dishes of his that we tried were excellent.
Tickets start at $39.50, and will go on sale this Friday, September 18. If you have big pockets, you can get special VIP seats ($150-$250). These include, among other things, a meet and greet with Guy before the show.
Don’t know if we’re going to be able to go or not, but it sure sounds like fun!
