Day 21 – The 23 Days of Christmas

Today is the first full day of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights. So today we have two Hanukkah songs, both of which have New England ties.
The Hanukkah Song – Adam Sandler
Marvin’s Holiday Song – Tom Doy
What do Adam Sandler and I have in common? No, I’m not Jewish! But we were both born in Brooklyn, NY, and later moved to New England. In Adam Sandler’s case, his family moved from New York to Manchester, NH, when he was five, and he pretty much grew up there. I think he still has family in the area, because sometimes we hear about how he comes back to visit.
As far as I know, there are now three versions of Adam’s Hanukkah song, with yet more Jewish celebrities named in them. The one here is the original one. But all Jews can rest assured of one thing – O.J. Simpson – still NOT A JEW!
Tom Doyle – also not a Jew. Most Bostonians probably know him from the Loren & Wally Morning Show on WROR. Tom writes and performs his “Townie Tunes”…parody songs which are often about local stuff. This is a Hanukkah song sung to the tune of Mele Kalikimaka.
You can listen to more of Tom’s “Townie Tunes” on the WROR website, both on the front page (scroll down) and on the Loren & Wally show page.
Enjoy! And Happy Hanukkah to all of our Jewish friends!
