Is this really gonna help sell furniture?
So, tomorrow, FOX-25 and Jordan’s Furniture are sponsoring a contest to win an audition for American Idol. And according to FOX-25 News on Twitter, people are already lining up for this. They will only be taking the first 100 people in line. I suppose that since the audition is not until tomorrow afternoon, they will either have to have someone bring them food, or else take a diet pill or something, to keep from getting hungry.
My personal opinion on this is that it won’t only sell furniture to the people who show up, but it might put off people who actually are in the market for furniture. I mean, if I were in the market for a new mattress or something, and I needed to start shopping for it tomorrow, I would NOT go to Jordan’s…simply because I hate dealing with mob scenes. I just would want to go there and look for a mattress or whatever, order it, and be done with it.
It’s just like the fact that I would have stayed far away from Bernie & Phyl’s when they were having auditions for kids to sing their commercial jingle. Listening to little kids sing is right up there with listening to fingernails scraping n a chalkboard. So if I were to have wanted to go furniture shopping that day, I’d hit other stores first.
I suspect other people feel the same, and the stores may actually LOSE paying customers by doing crap like this. I doubt that either the Idol contestants or the parents of the badly-singing kids would even bother to look at furniture.
Maybe I am one of the five people on this planet who doesn’t get the appeal of Idol. I just keep track of stuff like this, in ordr to avoid gatherings that are related to it.
