January 19 can’t come soon enough for me!

If you live in Massachusetts, I’m sure you know why…that is the day of the special election being held to fill the U.S. Senate seat formerly occupied by the late Ted Kennedy.  The candidates?  Democrat Martha Coakley, who is currently serving as the state’s Attorney General.  State Senator Scott Brown is the Republican candidate.  Finally, there’s Joe Kennedy (not related to THE Kennedys), a Libertarian who is running as an independent.

I am getting VERY sick of all the campaign ads, they are getting nastier by the day.  Martha Coakley, as well as groups who are supporting her, are running some very ugly ads which attack Scott Brown.  It’s gotten so bad that I often see two different anti-Brown attack ads, back-to-back.

If Brown and his supporters are running any anti-Coakley attack ads, I’ve yet to see one.  Maybe he is, but they are either not running as much on channels I watch, or just not as often at all.  The ads of his that I’ve seen were not nasty at all, in one, he speaks out against Coakley’s attacks in a civilized manner.  But I find that he is not very clear on where he stands on things, which is also annoying.

As for Joe Kennedy, well, the only time we’ve seen him is on news interviews and debates.  Honestly, he doesn’t seem to have much of a chance, he probably doesn’t have as much money.  But some people will probably vote for him because they are stupid and will think that he is THAT Joe Kennedy.

I’m sick of it all.  I wish I could take off on one of those French Quarter Vacations, and not come back until it’s time to vote, and all of the stupid commercials are off the air.

The best thing we all can do is to ignore the commercials as much as possible, and do some research to find out what each candidate stands for, and make an informed decision from there.

Soon it will be over.  And then we’ll have a few months of freedom from campaign ads, that is, until the gubernatorial race starts to heat up.
